How To: Prepare Matcha

Step 1: Heat appropriate amount of water to about 175 degrees, (We don't want to boil the water, it will burn the matcha and make it taste  bitter.)

*Note: If you heat your water on the stove we want there to be small bubbles forming at the bottom of the pan but not rising to the top yet.

Step 2: Place one teaspoon of matcha in the bottom of a heat safe cup for every 2 to 8oz of water that will be in your cup. (Ex: I want to fill my 16 ounce mug, so I will place 2 teaspoons of matcha in my heat safe preparation bowl.)

Step 3: Once the water is at the right temperature pour a small amount of water (about 3-4oz) into your preparation bowl with your matcha powder.

Step 4: Whisk your matcha with your matcha whisk. (Either your traditional bamboo whisk, or a modern electronic whisk.) Until mix is smooth, and bubbles have formed in the bowl.

Step 5: If you are preparing hot matcha transfer your matcha mixture to your drinking container and add hot water, sweeteners, milks, or other ingredients to your desire, mix thoroughly and enjoy!

Step 5: If you are preparing iced matcha, transfer your matcha mixture to your drinking container and add sweeteners, milks, and other ingredients to your desire, mix thoroughly then top with more water and ice and enjoy!
